Name:

The Earthworm Collective

Description:

The Earthworm is a collective space wherein creative people from all of the arts can meet, share, distribute and perform. It is a cooperative of diverse individuals providing a vaudeville stage for the Akron and Highland Square area where musicians, painters, writers, performance artists, film makers and others can begin then flourish. Akron has a long history of small underground venues giving over their spaces to whomever had the guts to take it. Now more than ever, as we face the corporatization and gentrification of our neighborhoods, we need a place where profit is not the dictator of expression, creativity or intent. The Earthworm will also be a small publication infoshop as well as house an extensive fanzine library that all will have access to. Grassroots organizations are welcome to meet and distribute here. No booze or dope allowed in the space. No sexism, racism, ageism, homophobia or any other brain drool tolerated. We are nonprofit so donations and local support are essential to our survival.

Grand Opening Reception Saturday, June 16, 2007.
